Established in 2018, ALT Capital Partners exists to “DEFINE CONVICTION AND DEFY CONVENTION.” We are impact private markets investors specializing only in infrastructure, social impact property, private equity and venture capital. We are adaptive responsible investors differentiated by verified impact across asset classes. Private Market investments defy the conventional investment types such as bonds, stocks and cash. ALT Capital partners provide investors access to a diverse range of Private Markets investment capabilities and impact across asset classes.

Our universe is sub-Saharan Africa and our investors are mainly institutional investors, global and local, seeking to participate in the development of Mother Africa.


  • Ben is the Founder & CEO of ALT Capital Partners. Prior to Alt Capital, Ben was with Sanlam Investments as CEO: Alternatives with the responsibility of managing the Alternative Businesses which compromised of Single Manager Hedge Funds, Direct Property, Private Equity and Africa Investments (Listed Equity, Credit and Real Estate).

    Ben joined Sanlam from STANLIB where he was Managing Director of Africa and responsible for leading and directing STANLIB’s asset management expansion into the continent.  Ben also spent a decade as a senior executive with Old Mutual primarily as Managing Director of their Property business and led the company through its most significant growth phase from 2004 to 2012. He also worked as General Manager in their Employee Benefits Investment services as well as Head of Strategy, Distribution and Marketing for the Old Mutual Investment Group.

    Prior to Old Mutual Ben was actively involved in the Investment management industry as Chief Investment Officer of the African Harvest Fund Managers Growth team, having previously been a founder member and Head of Investments at Prodigy Asset Management. Ben started his career at Liberty Asset Management and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young.

    Ben is a past Chairman of Wesgro and SA Corporate Real Estate Fund and past President of the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA).

  • Ngoku-Sakhile is an experienced investment professional with 12 years’ experience in the investment industry. Sakhile is also the Managing Director of Bayakha Infrastructure Partners and leads deal origination, operations, strategy and various stakeholder relationships.


    Prior to ALT Capital and Founding BAYAKHA, Sakhile was Head of Alternative Investments at Benguela Global Fund Managers. Sakhile spent a further 5 years at Investment Solutions (now Alexander Forbes Investments) where he was part of the Portfolio Management Team managing a R 2 billion Infrastructure and Socially Responsible Investment Portfolio amongst other Funds. Sakhile joined Alexander Forbes Investments from Eskom Pension and Provident Fund where he was part of the investment team. Sakhile started his career at Metal Industries Benefit Fund Administrators (MIBFA) as a Fund Accountant for the Engineering Industries Pension & Provident Funds. He has deep sector knowledge of the power production value chain and understands the global development agenda and its intersection with capital.

  • Tony is an entrepreneur and businessman with current and previous experience in building and growing businesses in the energy and petroleum, financial services, investment banking, corporate finance, asset management, media and ITC sectors over the last 21 years.


    Prior to going into business Tony served in the anti-apartheid struggle and trade union movement (NUMSA and COSATU). After serving in various capacities in the public sector, he left to co-found African Harvest Ltd in 1997, a listed company on the JSE in the financial services sector. He has also been involved in setting up a number of companies in South Africa, East, West, and Southern Africa and served as an advisor to a number of significant BEE transactions.


    Tony has previously served on a number of boards of listed and unlisted companies in a range of sectors and was a member of the African Venture Capital Association and a founding director of IMASA (now ASISA). Until the Telkom takeover, he was the non-executive chairperson of Business Connexion Group, a group he co-founded.

  • Kagiso has over 22 years’ experience in healthcare, insurance, private wealth management, investment banking, project finance and development finance. Kagiso has been in the financial services industry for 13 years, and has over 20 years’ experience in Private Healthcare Services in South Africa.


    He gained experience in personal finance and insurance as a CFP® designated financial planner at SANLAM.  He started his investment banking career at Rand Merchant Bank (“RMB”) as part of the prestigious “Class Of Program” and gained experience as a Credit Analyst for Leverage Finance, Equities and Fixed Income Currencies & Commodities (FICC) divisions, and as a Corporate Finance dealmaker, focusing mainly on Mergers and Acquisitions.  He then founded Marang Healthcare, leading the group strategy which spans Healthcare Investment and Advisory Services, Infrastructure Investment and Impact Investments. Kagiso is currently completing his dissertation for a Masters in Commerce (Development Finance) leading towards a Charted Development Finance Analyst designation.
