REIMAGINE is a next generation Social Impact Property Fund that is managed by ALT Property Partners. It invests in affordable housing and convenience retail properties across South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa within growing sectors that offer an opportunity to create both social and environmental impact as well as sustainable returns for investors.

FUND TEAM

Ben is currently inspired by the opportunity of building an Impact Alternative Investment business that aspires to attract foreign and local capital. Ben’s investment expertise has been established over 25 years, as CEO of Sanlam Alternative Investments, MD of STANLIB AM and Africa as well as MD of Old Mutual Property. He has also had the privilege of operating in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, Ghana, Nigeria, India and Saudi Arabia over this period. Ben has also served as President of the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA), Chairman of WESGRO as well as being the first Chairman of the JSE listed SA Corporate Real Estate Fund, amongst other Directorships.

Annelize Simons is a multi-disciplined property professional, with a successful career spanning more than 20 years. Hardworking and driven by a strong ethos for excellence, Annelize is a recognized and respected leader within the Southern African region’s property industry. Among her career highlights, is spearheading the successful growth of Old Mutual SA ‘s commercial portfolio from R7 to R14Billion over a three-year period. Annelize also boast the successful footprint expansion of Standard Bank of SA as Regional Head. She is the founder and owner of a Corporate Real Estate Services Business, The Portfolio, providing farsighted and holistic property solutions to both Public and Private entities aligning the client’s property function to their long-term business strategy.

Krayvasan Govender is a project finance, development and infrastructure professional with extensive experience in dealing with stakeholders across transaction spectrums. He has a broad range of skills that covers quantitative and qualitative perspectives and has experience as both an employee as well as a director/owner in successful companies. Krayvasan’s prior experience includes work in numerous South African and international infrastructure transactions with sectors ranging from roads, airports, power projects, PPPs and water infrastructure assets while his roles have covered advisory mandates as well as development process and equity/ strategic level decision making.

ASSET MANAGEMENT TEAM

Sarel specialises in Residential Developments and have extensive experience in identifying the right product for the demand in the property market as well as detailed planning, marketing, design and construction. His professional experience provides a powerful solution for residential developments. He prides himself in his achievements and has developed a reputation to conduct high quality projects, on time, within budget, while maintaining the highest degree of competitiveness and commitment to client satisfaction. Residential Development – Stocks & Stocks (South Africa) (5 years). Residential Development – Nakheel Group (Dubai) from 1999 to 2003 (5 years). Formed the VN Group in 2003 specialising in residential developments and construction (South Africa) (8 years). In this period Sarel completed various projects nationally as described below. Founder of Sable Cape Developments (2014).

Murray has been in the property development, asset management, social entrepreneurship and investment industry for 15 years working as a private investor and developer. His interest, experience and skills lie in structuring property deals, social entrepreneurship, private equity investment analysis and development. Since 2005, Murray’s focus has been on building a portfolio of properties and businesses across South Africa with a focus on developing rural and township areas creating platforms for entrepreneurship.

- Co-Founder of Chicken Xpress, Big Box, Proproyale and Neighbourgood.

- Asset Manager: Rural & Urban Township Emira Property Fund.

- Co-Founder of Sabi Developments (Generated revenue of circa R250m per annum).

- SAPOA Young Entrepreneur of the year award 2019.

Tumi is an experienced investment banking and property professional with expertise in relationship management, investments, credit analysis, deal structuring, negotiations, risk management, funding. Following a successful with an investment bank, he founded a business in the property and retail industries with a focus on township and rural retail. The scope of his work as a property developer includes but is not limited to:

- Identifying the opportunities for development.

- Conceptualizing and formalizing of projects into reality (including cost and quality rationalization).

- Leading team of professionals.

- Sourcing funding and investment partners; and delivery of completed project.

Thus, he is a well-rounded property practitioner with a wealth of experience in the sector; whether township, rural, peri urban or urban markets.

Chulu has been in the retail, commercial and hotel property development for over 12 years initially working for well-known developers in South African and later being part of Mweusi whom he and Tumi have been running for the last 7 years with a focus in rural and township retail. The scope of his work as a property developer includes but is not limited to:

- Identifying the opportunities for development.

- Conceptualizing and formalizing of projects into reality (including cost and quality rationalization).

- Leading team of professionals.

- Sourcing funding and investment partners; and delivery of completed project.

Thus, he is a well-rounded property practitioner with a wealth of experience in the sector, whether township, rural, peri urban or urban markets.
