Ben’s prestigious investment expertise has been established over 25 years, as CEO of Sanlam Alternative Investments; MD of STANLIB AM and Africa; as well as MD of Old Mutual Property. He has experience operating in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, Ghana, Nigeria, India and Saudi Arabia. His notable achievements in the industry include serving as President of the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA); Chairman of WESGRO; and as the first Chairman of the JSE listed SA Corporate Real Estate Fund, amongst other Directorships.

Ben describes his superpower as being “a connector”. He connects on different levels: connecting seemingly separate concepts, human to human connection, and connecting for abundance. His approach to each facet of the business is philosophical, which can be felt through each interaction and touchpoint.

Tumi is a successful investment banking and property professional, with a career that spans 15+ years. His expertise includes relationship management, investments, credit analysis, deal structuring, negotiations, risk management and funding. After honing his skills as an investment banker, specialising in commercial property finance, public sector and black business; his entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own businesses within the property and retail industries. This has resulted in a deeper knowledge of property development, investment, advisory, and retail trade.

Tumi, as the custodian of the investment and impact strategies, describes his role within the team as creating practical solutions from all the philosophical and creative ideas.

Chulu’s professional career in retail, commercial and hotel property development spans 12+ years, working for prominent South African developers. He has extensive experience in the sourcing of land, and management of real estate projects from conception to completion. This includes developing financial structures for each unique project, and the exit strategies once the development is complete. His industry
knowledge, experience and unique affinity to creative thinking lent themselves to successfully operating Mweusi alongside Tumi with a fresh focus on rural and township retail.

Chulu has the creative and conceptual power within the team. He is able to create a vision in a space that no one else can see. Seemingly dilapidated sites become masterpieces of construction, maximizing efficiency and beauty of a space.

Nozipho has extensive experience in the real estate sector both in South Africa and East Africa. She has a strong finance, investments and operations background. She is a natural leader who is adept at supporting and directing multi-functional teams to ensure the
delivery of company objectives. She has held senior roles including Chief Financial Officer of a REIT listed in the Nairobi Securities Exchange and is currently a non-executive director of a JSE-listed REIT.

Real estate professional experience in rural and township focused retail property.

Waseema has worked extensively in leasing during her time at Heriot REIT as the Leasing Manager for South Africa, and Vukile Property Fund where she was part of the first cohort of the Vukile Academy internship programme. Waseema is deeply involved in the industry as she currently serves on the SACSC Gauteng Committee, has previously served as head of Leadership, Development and Diversity Committee for IREM South Africa, and was a founding member and Vice Chair of the SAIBPP Wits Student Chapter.

Kamohelo is an emerging finance professional with strong expertise in accounting, audit and property finance.

Kamohelo completed her SAICA articles at Forvis Mazars, where she built a solid foundation in financial reporting, compliance and audit processes. She later gained industry experience as an accountant at Excellerate JHI, further developing her skills in property finance, financial management and operational reporting.

Her analytical mindset and collaborative approach support ALT Capital Partners’ commitment to responsible investment and sustainable growth. Kamohelo is passionate about continuous learning and contributing to financial excellence that enables long term impact.

With a career spanning over 20 years, Melanie is a financial services industry professional with a legal background and extensive experience in the investment banking industry, specifically corporate finance and capital markets. Her roles have included advising and executing on local and cross border transactions in the listed and unlisted space, namely mergers, acquisitions, and disposals; takeovers; listings, de listings (take-private’s) and relistings; public and private capital raisings (primary and secondary, placements and accelerated bookbuilds), block trades and selldowns.

She is currently focussed on the venture capital and private equity industries with a strong emphasis on sustainable growth of emerging fund managers, investing for financial return in conjunction with the benefits to women, and support of an economy where both small and medium-sized enterprises can succeed.

Private Equity

For over 25 years Tony has applied his knowledge and understanding of disruptive innovation within various segments of the investment and asset management industry. He has experience in private equity through industry experience, establishing a private equity
fund as well as having held various directorships. He served as CEO of a listed financial services company, managing director of an asset
management company, private equity practitioner, and is active as a venture capitalist and angel investor. Tony co-founded a hedge fund, private equity fund, social responsibility fund and Women’s Fund. He has extensive experience and engagement of the retirement fund
and asset management industry, both institutional and retail.

- Board experience as Director and as chairperson of listed and unlisted companies, such as Director of BCX, Asisa (formally known as Imasa), Tisa, Wesgro, Avusa (now Times Media/ Blackstar), SA Empowerment Fund and African Partnership, both were listed on the JSE. Vertex (Tanzania) and Namibian Harvest Holdings.

- Advisor in and to a number of BEE transactions including Tiger, Caltex, Absa and Vodacom.

Nompumelelo (Pumi) is a highly experienced property development professional with nearly two decades of expertise in commercial real estate development. Her career began in South Africa, where she managed a diverse portfolio of projects, including retail, commercial offices, hospitality, industrial, and data centers. Pumi's passion for the African continent led her to join Gateway Real Estate Africa (GREA) in Mauritius during its early stages, where she played a crucial role in establishing development processes and successfully completing projects in East Africa. She later moved to Kenya to lead the East Africa Construction and Development division and contributed to the establishment of the Grit Real Estate Income Fund (GRIT) and GREA Kenya Strategic Office.

Pumi's career is marked by her remarkable ability to form and sustain key partnerships, uniting industry, business, government, and communities to achieve successful real estate developments. Her contributions and achievements have earned her a strong reputation in the industry, leading to awards and nominations, including recognition as a Top 100 Corporate Leader by the South African Institution of Black Property Practitioners in 2022, as well as nominations for the Professional of the Year Award and Young Achievers Award by the Women's Property Network in 2017 and 2015, respectively.

Nathisha has more than two decades of experience in the property development sector across various property classes and sizes. Her diverse international background is entrenched in the property sector, and well complemented by her experience in finance and strategy.

She has enjoyed a diverse and successful career in the corporate sector which gave her invaluable experience overseeing large scale developments locally and into the Rest of Africa. She now runs her own development management, project management and commercial management consultancy specialising in retail developments.

Nathisha is highly qualified, trained and experienced. She is passionate, resourceful and committed to delivering a high standard of work. Her ethical orientation and attention to detail has gained her respect in the industry.

HatlaNtene is an accomplished executive in property development and construction, currently serving as Executive Chairman of Mvua Property Partners. With a B.Sc. in Surveying, diplomas in Civil Engineering and Construction Economics, and certifications as a Professional Registered Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager, he has over 40 years of experience. Ntene has held leadership roles on boards of major companies, including Calgro M3 Holdings, WBHO Construction, and Vukile Property Fund, contributing to governance in remuneration, ethics, and investment. His career highlights include managing large projects like ABSA Towers West and Eastgate Shopping Centre, directing private firms in asset valuation, and overseeing property strategies for entities such as Transnet Property. His expertise spans corporate governance, strategic planning, and sustainable asset management across both public and private sectors.

Tidi is a seasoned entrepreneur, governance specialist and has also held senior positions both in the public and private sectors. Her positions include being the Chief Operating Officer: Mosong Capital, Chief Director: Department of Foreign Affairs (Deputy Chief of State Protocol): Executive Director: Meropa Communications and Employee Well Being Manager: Eskom Cape Distributor.

Tidi’s passion for governance and compliance led her to study law degrees specializing in corporate law. Her masters ‘s dissertation focused on the well-known corporate governance scandal titled: The Group Reigns Supreme – The parent company abuse of control of its subsidiary “A critical analysis of the VBS scandal”

As a governance specialist Tidi creates, advise and manages governance structures for both local and international companies.Tidi’s board and trustee experience include Schindler Lifts (SA), where she was also a Chairperson of the Social and Ethics Committee, Glenrand MIB (now AON), TMT Technologies, One and Only Cape Town Manco and Makhulong Trust, a Glenrand MIB employee share scheme.

Tidi is a member of the Institute of Directors of South Africa (IODSA).
